Abstract:

This paper reports on a finite element numerical investigation for pointed fixed laminated glass panels (PFLGP). The study focused on the influence of the fixing elements and interlayer material. Two mechanical point fixing solutions were studied: i) embedded and ii) countersunk bolt fixings. Two types of interlayers were considered: EVASAFE and PVB. The numerical models were developed with FE software Abaqus. Results are validated with ongoing experimental research, considering a selection of single PFLGP subjected to wind loads. The different numerical modelling techniques for each fixing type are described and detailed, allowing further developments on the characterization of these systems.
