Abstract:

New "Puente del Pilar"

The beidge is located in the city of Zaragoza over the Ebro river. It is "embracing" the old "Puente del Pilar" made of steel, wich is now used by pedestrians after it was repaired. The new one is being used for vehicle traffic. The new bridge is made of two pestressed concrete continuous decks with a curved plan. Their length is 238,64 m and they have five spans 47,00 m long. The box girder is 1,8 m depth. The piers, with a curvilinear shape, are leant and they are also made of prestressed concrete. Both decks are formed by segments cast-in place wich were incrementally launched from one of the riversides.
