Abstract: |
A 22-km-long, six-lane toll motorway, called the Yellow Line, opened to traffic in November 1997. This stretch of the motorway includes the Covanca Tunnel, one of the longest urban tunnels in the world. The Covanca Tunnel is a 2.2-km-long tunnel with two galleries, each 2.2 km long, which were designed and constructed by the New Austrian Tunneling Method. The project also features six viaducts, a 130-m-long false tunnel, and earth retaining structures up to 25 m high, consisting of post-tensioned soil anchors and shotcrete panels. |
