Abstract:

Redesign and new roofing of the train station in Winterthur, Suisse.

In the summer of 2013 the redesigned square in front of the train station in Winterthur was reopened. An arrow-like canopy, eccentrically supported on one spatial column, spans over the bus terminals and forms the major architectural element in front of the entrance of the old town of Winterthur. The extraordinary metal construction, designed by Stutz Bolt Partner Architects, required extraordinary solutions from the designers and contractors. An intense collaboration of all parties involved and a clear collective sense of direction enabled this highly precise structure to be built in a short period of time.
