Abstract:

The known methods for determining penetration depth of consolidation materials are shortly described. Two new methods are presented. Employing these methods it is possible to measure strength profiles non-destructively on cores or core slices. Ultrasonic velocity as well as natural frequency oftheflexural and torsional vibration may be employed for calculating elastic moduli. Both are reproducible methods for the determination of effectiveness and penetration depth of consolidation materials. Experiments were performed using sandstone and brick. The results are the more precise, the more homogeneous the materials.
