Abstract:

New railway bridge at station Hamburg-Dammtor.

The following report concernes the renewing of a four part railway bridge "beyond the rolling wheels", which is situated besides the through-traffic station "Dammtor" near a vivid street knot (Figs. 1 and 2). To beware east-west connection within the town, this project was advertised in 2010 and will be finished at the end of 2012. The old bridge has been a steel-construction on columns from 1902. It was formed as a sheet metal girder with riveted connections. The bridge has carried the full railwayload after now 110 years. In future the 16 columns were to be released, but the walls were to be renewed.
The bridge is oblique-angled 30 to 40 degrees and in the ground plan lightly fan shaped leading to the platforms. The directly bordering station has two platforms. They are serving for the long distance traffic Hamburg-Berlin and for the town traffic Mainstation-Altona, both within a closed hall with a steel-vault roof. Described are among others the devices, which were needed for rising the new walls under the bridge. Finally there are pictures about the transport oft he prefabricated trough shaped superstructures.
