New span to depth ratio diagrams for beams according to EC2

A set of very compact and new span to depth ratio diagrams for simply supported and continuous beams was established on the basis of [1-3]. The span to depth ratios shown in the diagrams provide a simple method to establish the structural depth required for the indirect proof of the span to depth ratio requirements according to [4, 5]. The diagrams are based on the assumption that the loads acting on the chosen beam have been established through preliminary calculations of the adjacent slabs. The following article describes the development of the diagrams and gives examples for their practical application.
