Abstract:

Stadium in blue - Construction of "Grand Stade du Havre"

32 500 m² of single-layer, dyed ETFE-membrane, four specially developed shades of blue, a stadium forming a uniform and integrated whole: The Grand Stade du Havre at the French Atlantic Coast is one of the first buildings that has been realized with dyed ETFE-foils - and up to now it is the largest. This article outlines the constructive solution, the dimensioning and the construction of an extensive single-layer ETFE-facade and provides an insight into the fabrication, the processing and the material properties of dyed ETFE-foils. The report focuses on the measurement/calculation of the structure for wind and snow loads as well as for elevated temperatures.
