Abstract:

Construction of the new "Niedernfelder Brücken" - Optimized tubular pile foundations and their bearing capacity, analyzed by dynamic pile load tests.

Due to their high bearing capacity, their economic efficiency and their flexible operation conditions driven open ended piles are a commonly used foundation type. Notwithstanding a wide experience regarding this type of pile, the bearing behavior is not explicitly known. During the construction of the bridges "Niedernfelder Brücken" in the port of Hamburg extensive dynamic pile load tests were carried out at open ended piles with and without reinforcement. The resulting data and experiences gained in this project will be summarized in this paper.
