Masonry and sustainability in apartment buildings.

The construction and real estate industry in general and especially residential buildings as a crucial typology are key elements of the national sustainability strategy in Germany. Based upon a holistic life-cycle orientated analysis the high sustainability quality of small residential buildings made of masonry has already been verified [1]. The examination of the following paper extends the perspective and should prove if masonry apartment buildings can be characterised by a comparably high sustainability quality.
