Abstract:

Multifunctional composite slab system with integrated building services - Studies on the load bearing and fire behavior, thermal efficiency and sustainability of a novel composite floor system.

Modern multi-story buildings require holistic and sustainable building conceptions that provide a high flexibility of use and multi-functionality and thereby increase the building's service life and economy [1]. Special potential for improvement in this case provides the research area of floor-slab structures. Multifunctional and integrated floor-slab-systems can make a significant contribution to the creation of sustainable building structures.
In this paper, a novel multi-functional composite floor system (InaDeck) is presented which incorporates all building services and installations into the structural element by means of an integrated installation floor. The floor-slab elements are made of prestressed composite beams with single flange and continuous shear connectors (filigree composite beams) which have large web openings for the routing of integrated building services. Due to a pre-stressed concrete chord at the bottom side of the cross section, the slab system features improved physical and fire protection characteristics and provides wide spans for increased flexibility at the same time. The article highlights the complex interactions between the disciplines of building services, building physics, structural engineering and fire protection.
