Abstract:

Human-building-interaction in context of energetically relevant acting of building occupants.

This article presents research that aims for the development of the scientific foundation for the prediction of energy-relevant human interaction with buildings on the basis of psychologically founded causal models.
In order to illustrate the main development direction of the presented research, those deficits of the hitherto existing research which can be assumed to be largely responsible for the lack of general validity of existing prognostic models will be described in a first step. The first deficit relates to the systematics of identifying the interaction-relevant context and indicates that current research considers the relevant context incompletely and thus ignores relevant parts of it. Further on, a methodological deficit exists which indicates that current research primarily aims for the identification of descriptive correlative relations between context and interaction, however, not for the identification of explanatory causal relations.
Based on this analysis, two research approaches are delineated which show the potential to overcome these deficits. First, a heuristic method is introduced which is capable of describing the context more comprehensively and more balanced than hitherto possible. Following, the systematic analysis of this context is the starting point for the purposeful identification of a number of theoretical frameworks from psychology which are capable of scientifically conceptualizing human interaction. These results can be used in the future to formulate a homogeneous overall theory for energy-relevant human interaction with buildings.
