Abstract:

Smart (also called “intelligent”) buildings become more and more common in the world due to higher levels of comfort, which they offer. They are more expensive to build than transitional facilities, because of more advanced systems of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, BMS and etc. as well as typically higher requirements regarding their construction. The present paper is focused on the assessment of thermal insulation of the smart building “Energis” of Kielce University of Technology (Poland) using an infrared camera. The study has been performed both from the outside and the inside of the building and thermographic images have been obtained and analysed in detail. The measurements have been performed on the winter day, when the temperature difference between the outside and inside air was about 20K. The infrared images enabled to determine the performance of the thermal insulation, mostly of the walls – especially in the areas of joining various elements with each other. The study provides valuable information on the heat losses analysis in the smart buildings.
