Abstract: |
Widening a highway in western Colorado meant construction on slopes of dubious stability, and reliable information about geological and geotechnical conditions was vital. Core samples obtained by helicopter-delivered drill rigs guided the design of retaining wall systems that includes soil nails, ground anchor tiebacks, and mechanically stabilized earth walls. |
