Abstract: This article explores the topic of the authorities at building sites, retracing the development of labor organization in the building sector in Dublin, the Irish capital, between 1859 and 1896. It examines the main changes brought about by work reform, revealing its impact on the life of the average worker and the reactions of employers in the larger context of cities in the nineteenth century.
