Building and repairing bridges has always been a challenge for builders, engineers and architects. This report is designed to provide a glimpse of the history of bridge building in general and that of the Krämer Bridge in particular and recall the fundamental repair work on the arch supports that took place in 1985/86. Without this work, the Krämer Bridge would certainly have disappeared from the current cityscape.
