Abstract:

Corrosion protection at the new ship lift Niederfinow, Germany.

Conducting and quality management of the anticorrosive coating of the steel constructions belonging to the ship lift in Niederfinow is ensured by a strict implementation of an anticorrosive coating instruction that is valid for all parties involved. The instruction considers the variety of architectural requirements concerning color as well as the coating in several assembly plants and at the construction site. Approximately 70 % of the devices have been delivered pre-preserved. Subsequent conducted welding jobs at the construction site and their negative effects on the already coated surfaces demand an enormous additional quality management. Predominantly, established anticorrosive coating systems have been used. In the field of transportation, new paths haven been explored for coatings that needed individual approval, for powder coatings as well as for cathodic corrosion protection for the anodes.
