Abstract:

Combination of ultrasound and shockwaves for innovative regeneration of wells.

The effectiveness of regeneration of wells can be enhanced if ultrasound and shockwaves are used during the same treatment. It is theoretically shown that the two methods have different depths of impact. Whereas the ultrasonic method has a strong impact on the area of the well screen, the impact of the shock waves is focused on the gavel pack, the wall of the well and the adjacent aquifer. The propagation of the signals in the formation near the well was modeled numerical. By a theoretical analysis combined with experiments in lab and field it was proven that the regeneration of wells using a combination of ultrasound and shockwaves is much more effective than the regeneration by means of ultrasound only.
