Abstract: |
Jianshe Bridge is a self-anchored cable-stayed-suspension bridge. This type of bridge has the advantage over earth-anchored cable-stayed-suspension bridges of eliminating traditional earth anchorages. Due to the elimination of earth anchorages, the main cables were anchored at the ends of the stiffening girder. The compressive force offered by the main cables would reduce tendons in concrete stiffening girder and overcame the discontinuity problem of axial force existing in the earth-anchored system. Meanwhile, the anchor block provided vertical pressure to avoid the negative support reaction of side piers. Good mechanical behavior and prominent economic benefit together make it an efficient and elegant solution for moderate and large span bridges. |
