Intervenciones en cubiertas históricas de madera: ¿Restaurar o reconstruir? = Intervention in historical timber roofs: Restore or rebuild?

This paper develops a study of interventions in historical monuments. We have analyzed two cases of Heritage preservation, the roofs of two religious buildings, following different restoration criteria. The first case consists of a restoration of the roof original structure, keeping the original components of the construction, whereas in the second case an integral roof reconstruction was carried out, given its widespread deterioration. We discuss the criteria used to choose the most appropriate intervention methods in each case. In conclusion we expose the need to gather historical information required by the literature search, views and observations to understand the evolution of the monument.
