Abstract:

Structural rehabilitation of the power plant Meliti, Greece after fire.

The power plant Meliti in Northern Greece is a 300 MW power station that uses lignite as fuel. On the 25th of July 2014 a fire broke out in the conveyor belt that transports the coal to the bunker. The fire resulted in damages in the 240 m long steel conveyor bridge and the concrete bunker structure. The conveyor bridge was repaired without scaffolding temporary supports by exchanging the damaged parts and the connection media with new. The bunker was subjected to local damages that were rehabilitated by application of FRP sheets and FRP wraps. The plant was in operation in two months after it was fully rehabilitated.
