Entre la escala de laboratorio y la de la planta piloto semi-industrial, instalada en el Instituto, se hacía necesaria una intermedia, que produjera material en cantidad suficiente para los ensayos oportunos, sin que significara un alto consumo de materia prima, combustible, tiempo, etc.
