Abstract:

This article describes a project to investigate the dynamic behaviour of a prefabricated timber-concrete composite floor slab developed for the Department for Education's GenZero sustainable schools programme. The GenZero initiative involves a new building system made of a kit of parts that could be manufactured off site and then assembled on site to create diferent confgurations of secondary school. The slab is constructed of a precast concrete deck on glulam ribs, with two interlayers. The project investigated the effect of both the interlayers and different shear connectors on the performance of the slab.
