Abstract:

Inner-city construction of a new high-speed railway line in China - Shijiazhuang City Tunnel and new Terminal as part of the Beijing-Shijiazhuang-Wuhan PDL.

Shijiazhuang City Tunnel and new Terminal are part of the newly-build Beijing-Shijiazhuang-Wuhan PDL (Passenger dedicated Line). Due to the special requirements of inner city construction, the construction of around 5 km long city tunnel and of a new major train station, reconstruction of train depot and connection to existing lines, the section has been separated from Beijing-Shijiazhuang and Shijiazhuang-Wuhan (Hebei) PDL and executed by Beijing Railway Administration. Special attention has been put on the interaction between subsoil and civil structure and resulting settlement and deformation behaviour during construction and later-on ('rest settlement'), especially in the area of crossings with major roads and railway lines. High requirements also apply to the quality of construction. Beside the consultation for special technical topics it was the task of foreign consultants to improve the quality management and check its implementation on site.
