The 2023 ICOLD Annual Meeting was held in Gothenburg, Sweden, and the main theme was ‘Management for Safe Dams’. During the two-day symposium that formed part of the annual meeting, three sessions under the theme of concrete dams covered safety, durability and materials, and numerical modelling. A total of 18 papers were presented during the symposium, of which a selection is summarised in this briefing note. These papers contributed to the main theme by highlighting the important role that new research and technologies continue to play in ensuring the longevity of ageing concrete and masonry dam portfolios all over the world. |
