Abstract: |
The Huerfanos Footbridge is the first cable-stayed bridge in Santiago. Stay cables were used for this particular project due to aesthetic considerations because the bridge is located in a highly populated zone of Santiago. The needs of the pedestrians could have been resolved with a traditional steel bridge, but the client wanted a new landmark for Santiago, at a reasonable cost. |
