Abstract:

The concrete used for the Monaco dock

The conditioning factor of the dock lasting over 100 years gave rise to a number of extremely demanding requirements insofar as the mix design was concerned. The constituent parts, preliminary tests, mix design and full scale tests were all described The technical studies carried out in winter and summer conditions were also reviewed using models to obtain the maximum tensile stresses and any cracking that could occur. Finally, the tests and controls performed during the construction of the dock were revised and the results obtained summarised.
