Abstract:

Full scale bending tests on beams and deep beams made of light-weight concrete shuttering blocks.

In the framework of a research project funded by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft industrieller Forschungsvereinigungen "Otto von Guericke" e. V. (AiF) the Institute of Concrete Structures and Building Materials, Department Reinforced Concrete, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT, since October 2010; formerly University of Karlsruhe) carried out full scale bending tests on beams and deep beams made of lightweight concrete shuttering blocks produced by the company "Gisoton Wandsysteme" (from Aichstetten). It should be analysed if such beams and deep beams are offering load carrying capacities in the magnitude of classic reinforced concrete constructions to span larger wall openings (which are necessary for underground parking garage entrances, e.g.).
