Abstract:

Late in 1995, after long deliberation, the government of the Province of Styria in Austria decided to rebuild the former "Österreicher-Ring" motorsport circuit, now known as the A-1 Circuit. The aim of this effort was to preserve the racing circuit and to create a facility that would encourage the return Formula 1 racing to the former venue. According to the latest information, contracts have been signed for an Austrian Grand Prix race on the site in August 1997. In the meantime the race circuit will be used for other motorsport events.
