Abstract:

The example of many hydropower plants shows that the pressure shafts of high pressure power stations lie in very varied geological conditions, which has a great influence on the layout of the pressure shaft and the structural design of the lining. Despite this variability, it is possible to formulate a few basic geological criteria whose application, however, cannot replace the detailed consideration of the specific geological conditions that is essential for every pressure shaft.
