Abstract: |
Fukuoka Dome, Japan's largest stadium with a retractable roof, is a multi-purpose facility which can be used for baseball and other sports, concerts, exhibitions, and trade shows, with equal efficiency in both open and closed roof modes. It has a seating capacity of 48,000 for baseball and a maximum of 52,000. The roof encloses approximately 1.76 million m³ of space, has a maximum span of about 213 m and reaches a height of 84 m above the ground. It consists of three spherical panels with a rise-to-span ratio of 0.2. The upper and middle panels rotate in opposite directions on circular guide tracks. |
