Abstract:

Finely profiled UHPFRC dry joints for segmental components

The prefabricated segmental construction method has several advantages over the in-situ concrete construction. The segments can be precasted under controlled conditions at the precasting yard and are not subject to weather conditions. Furthermore the construction period as well as the costs of falsework and on site can be reduced. Combining this advantageous construction method with the excellent properties of ultra high performance fiber reinforced concrete (UHPFRC), filigree and modular segmental constructions can be produced. The formation of the joints is fundamental for such constructions. Experimental and theoretical research works on finely profiled UHPFRC dry joints have been conducted at the iBMB, Department of Concrete Structures of the TU Braunschweig, and a design model has been formulated, which will be reported in the article.
