Abstract: |
Espirito Santo Plaza is a sparkling 37-story, 147 m high glass tower with an attached 13-story parking garage. It includes 27 900 mm² of office space, a luxury hotel with ballroom and meeting facilities, luxury condominium residences, and retail and restaurant space. The geometry of the 30-story high arch is created by the intersection of the vertical concave surface inside the arch with the inclined plane around it. The sky lobby has a 10-storey high atrium, which is enclosed with a glass wall and skylight. The tower is located within a flood zone however the curtain wall is designed to keep out flood water. This article covers the foundation system, the gravity load resisting system, lateral load resisting and the glass structures. The structure is expected to be complete in September 2003 at a cost of 180 USD millions. |
