Abstract:

The extended classic theory of earth pressure, taking into consideration different earth layers.

The paper [1] has included a description of a method of simultaneously taking into consideration the inner friction angle and cohesion, when active earth pressure is determined. The classic earth pressure theory, which has been extended to include cohesion (EKET), also takes into consideration an uneven ground surface, including line loads, and unsteady surface and deeper foundation loads. The article in hand extends the above publication to take account of multilayered soil. Furthermore, depending on the depth z, besides Eah(z) the specific active earth pressures eah(z) are calculated and distributed even for the most general case, including slide lines pertaining to them. A program has been worked out by the author named "Erddruck-1" for this purpose because of lengthy calculations based on complex formulas, which is designed to calculate selected examples and print out drawings pertaining to them.
