Abstract:

Commentary about the Adhesive Shear Strength.

The adhesive shear strength is defined in DIN EN 1996-1-1/NA as a characteristic construction material value, independently of the mortared butt joints, deviating from the preliminarily defined regulations DIN 1053-1 or DIN 1053-100. The differentiation between masonry with mortared and unmortared butt joints will be considered in the future in the calculations for the bending tensile strength or respectively for the shear strength of masonry. The different development stages of the shear strength values defined in the different standards will be shown within the following article in a historical way.
