Abstract:

Durability of "Compact Reinforced Composite" (CRC): concrete of ultra high resistance

Very high strength concretes (120-300 Mpa) have been developed. The concept of compact reinforced composite (CRC) belongs to this type of concretes. Superior durability is assumed to be achieved with high performance concretes, however the level of improvement is not always the same. The present paper presents a set if tests carried out on CRC speciments, which demonstrated that it seems to be practically immune to carbonatation, mainly due to it's extremely low porosity and low water content. As well, it has shown that chloride attack cannot despassivate the reinforcement even in cranked elements.
