Abstract:

Germany's first concrete bridges

The early history of unreinforced concrete has received little attention until now. However, significant engineering concrete structures have been constructed long before the advent of reinforced concrete in bridge building at the end of the 19th century. In this short notice, the authors present three small arch bridges dating back to 1877/1878 which are probably Germany's oldest concrete bridges.
