Abstract: | Spaces seek to meet increasingly demanding comfort conditions without forgetting energy efficiency criteria. In this sense, care centres for the elderly are of vital importance and are a clear example where the interior conditions and the improvements to be adopted are focused on pursuing the user's wellbeing. In addition, this type of buildings usually shares spaces with multiple uses, which makes it difficult to establish a common criterion for action. This paper analyses the monitoring work carried out as part of an energy audit of a publicly owned gerontological centre. A building characterised by its large dimensions in which administrative, social, and service uses coexist in addition to residential use. The objective of the monitoring was to verify and quantify the degree of thermal discomfort perceived by the users and collected in previous interviews. Given the particularities of the case study, the system implemented had to be able to overcome the barriers generated by the dimensions of the building and also to be a low-cost and modular system in order to be able to extend the capacities and monitoring points. In terms of the results obtained, the monitoring has made it possible to detect and quantify the indoor environmental conditions of the most representative spaces. On the other hand, it has been possible to verify the correct operation of the proposed solution as a whole, as well as to detect points for improvement. |
