Abstract: |
This paper describes the design of heavy mast structures for Norwegian sites located in rough mountain areas. These areas are characterised by unusually high wind speeds and in addition, very severe icing conditions. This paper describes the differences between earlier days' and today's information on climatic actions including atmospheric ice actions and how to use this information most favourably by updating actions and analysis. The process of updating structural actions and analysis is of importance for the mast owner, because he can typically gain increased capacity out of an old structure that can be used for more antennas without jeopardising reliability and safety. |
