Abstract: |
Dalsfjordbrua - 523 meters suspension bridge in western NorwayAs part of the continuous expansion of the Norwegian infrastructure since September 2010, the final completion of the Dalsfjord connection has started on the west coast of Norway. In addition to approximately 3.8 kilometer of tunnel construction, building the Dalsfjord suspension bridge is the most significant part of this new connection. In this paper, the essential works of the concrete suspension bridge are explained. These include the cable anchorages, the pylons and the approach bridges. Besides the representation of construction details, in particular project-specific features are presented. Especially weather, currents and limited sunlight (during winter months) as well as the limited availability of building materials and machinery required a detailed work preparation. In addition limited access and little alternative areas had made execution difficult. |
