Adam Menelaws like William Hastie was a Scottish architect who found employment in Moscow. Until recently little has been known in the west of their work. Following her earlier paper on Hastie, Tatiana Ruchinskaya sets the scene for Menelaws' contribution to Russian architecture of the period
