Bond-strength in bars of different diameter

The verification of the state of bond-strength mentioned in the 42nd article of the "Instruction for the project and performance of plain reinforced concrete works", in its latest edition EH 88, keeps the same mathematical expression than in previous editions, which is only applicable when the whole reinforcement is made up of bars of equal diameter. In the present paper we are going to set up a new expression for the bond-strength condition, with a very simple development and easy use, taking into account the location of bars of different diameter as a particaular case, from the point of view of security.
