Abstract:

It is shown herein that concrete beams may also be prestressed with carbon-fibre-reinforced polymers (CFRP). The test results show that the static fracture behaviour of such beams is almost identical to that of beams prestressed with steel. Not only statically determinate, but also statically indeterminate systems may be prestressed in this way.
