Abstract:

Office building with an impact on urban architecture - DHPG Head Office in Bonn.

The modern head office of the advisory firm DHPG has been centrally located in Bonn's Federal Quarter (Bundesviertel) since 2013. Due to its elegant combination of glass and concrete featuring prominent ribbing and a composite steel structure, the five-storey office building stands out from its surroundings. Goldbeck consulted on planning and design, and oversaw the entire construction project from the beginning to turnkey handover. Prof. Schmitz Architekten won an architectural competition prior to the project and was commissioned to design the building's architecture. Construction took just 16 months. The shell is made entirely of system components, many of which were pre-fabricated. Goldbeck and the architects developed the graduated facade from customised precast concrete elements. Interior design and construction centred on comfort and a communicative working environment with a uniform design language. The article highlights the diversity and advantages of system construction based on the example of DHPG.
