Design method for confined masonry according Eurocode 6.The article describes a design method for confined masonry according EN 1996-1-1. In Chapter 6.9 of EN 1996-1-1, design principles are provided only on a short and verbal base. There is a lack of detailed design guideline and missing of tools for practical engineers dealing with this kind of masonry compared to unreinforced- and reinforced masonry. Following, theoretical backgrounds as well needed equations due to different load cases are derived in order to give the engineer a handsome and understandable tool for design. At the end, a clear flowchart is presented to conclude this design guideline for confined masonry. |
