Design of welded joints according to DIN EN 1993-1-8.

Since May 2005 the European standard EN 1993-1-8 is the official supersede for regulations for the design of connections of ENV 1993-1-1, which was published in 1992. This article describes details of the design of welded joints of this part of Eurocode 3 (EC3) "Design of steel structures". Differences to the still valid DIN 18800-1 are pointed out. The design of joints at hollow sections acc. DIN 18808 will be shown in a separate article.
