Abstract:

Contribution to seismic design of timber structures

This contribution deals with the seismic design of timber structures and their dynamic response with particular focus on wood-panel buildings. In this kind of constructions several deformation types contribute to the overall dynamic response. The appropriate consideration of shear and flexural stiffness has an crucial influence on the determination of the fundamental periods of wood-panel structures. For this purpose engineering models suitable for practical use are presented and demonstrated by worked examples.
