Abstract:

Waterproofing of masonry constructions under the challenges of climate change.

Climate change obviously effects the waterproofing of buildings, since the envelope of a building must be protected against the prevailing climate stresses caused by precipitation. In this context masonry construction has to deal with the climate effects especially on the façade and on below-ground building components. This essay aims to present clear distinctions and classifications of the predominant stresses, so that one can adequately react to the changing conditions without raising general requirements for buildings and thus making their construction less economical.
The following text reports on the structural changes of DIN 18195 and on some new regulations planned for an entirely new DIN 18 533.
