Abstract:

Building physical und mechanical aspects of masonry after flood disaster.

Flood incidences appear in Germany from time to time. Buildings were occasionally flooded up to the first floor. The contribution assumes drying of masonry, drying methods and how drying periods can be shortened by applying technical equipment. Furtheron it is pointed out, how mechanical properties chance during moisture penetration und perform after subsequent drying. Concluding, possibilities of protecting masonry by suitable sealing systems are indicated.
