Abstract:

Conservation of buildings - material properties for historic clay masonry.

Restoration works often require information about the thermal and loadbearing characteristics of the applied building materials. Clay bricks are the predominant material in housing in the 20th century. An estimation of design values of these historic materials is possible if the period of construction is known. The paper summarizes information about the material properties compressive strength and thermal conductivity of clay bricks applied during the 20th century.
